It's never too early to start planning your move. Creating a checklist several weeks before your move-in date can help you stay organized and reduce last-minute stress. Planning ahead gives you time to schedule movers, update your address, and prepare your new home.

Start by packing items you use less frequently, such as seasonal clothing, decorations, books, and extra household items. Save everyday essentials like toiletries, medications, chargers, and a few days' worth of clothing for last so they're easy to access after your move.

Keep important documents, medications, keys, identification, wallets, phones, chargers, snacks, water, and a change of clothes with you instead of packing them in the moving truck. Having these essentials readily available can make moving day much easier.

Update your mailing address with the United States Postal Service, your employer, financial institutions, insurance providers, healthcare providers, subscriptions, and any other organizations that regularly send you mail. Updating your address promptly helps ensure you continue receiving important correspondence.
